- *Finds potential problems before they get worse
- *Gives home owners an elevated level of comfort about the security of their investment
In the winter time making sure the water is shut off and the heater is working properly is probably the #1 reason to have home checks. Even with the water shut off, a heater that fails and turns off can cause water freezing in the house. If the water is not shut off the damage can easily escalate into the thousands or tens of thousands of dollars.
In the winter time falling snow and Ice can break windows and walls that can allow water from weather to enter the house causing damage. Ice dams commonly form on the eastern and northern facing roof eves causing pooling water on roofs. This pooling water eventually finds a way into the house and can cause significant damage. Catching this early is critical to minimize the damage.
In the summer critters are looking for new places to nest and the houses up here present them with many choices. If they enter the house they are capable of doing significant damage in a short period of time. Recognizing and eliminating their presence is important.
Windows and doors are often accidentally left open by friends, family and renters, ensuring that they are properly secure after use keeps unwanted critters and weather from entering the house.
